Now that’s an old queen

For another entry into the Smart Quotes, I’m posting a little clip from W’s recent blooper during the Queen’s dinner at the White House on May 7, 2007. And you know, this little gem actually makes me like him a little more than usual. In fact, I think this endearing slip-of-the-tongue /slash/ diplomatic blunder boosts his approval rating with me and by george, I think he’s climbed up to just below Satan himself, barely beating out Fred Phelps.

A bright Earth Day, a “bright” presidency in retrospect…

As another Earth Day comes to a close, and as the holiday themed Google masthead earthday07.gif melts away, I, the decider of this blog, have been inspired to start a new category! And now for the first post for Smart Quotes

When I think of inspirational quotes fraught with meaning and dripping with an under appreciated wit, I think of our dear president, George W. Bush. I believe this will be the first of many quotes sampled from his unique and perceptive presidency. In celebration of his staunch dedication to the environment, I’ve selected a quote highlighting his love for nature above all other diplomatic opportunities and presidential perks.

On May 7, 2006 in German newspaper Blid am Sonntag, when asked about the best moment of his presidency, W. replyed:

“I would say the best moment of all was when I caught a 7.5 pound largemouth bass in my lake. - thus speaketh George W. Bush
